School of Computing, Engineering and Information SciencesEllison Building, Newcastle City Campus
Is this you? You're working in a library or information service environment at a junior level. You enjoy the job and you're capable of so much more but you don't have the right qualifications to take the next step? Perhaps you see others getting promoted and you know you could do just as good a job if only you had that qualification. Frustrating?
Well, if you have a minimum of two years working in a library or information handling environment and can demonstrate a record of continuous professional development in these areas, we may be able to help you get that qualification that will help you take that first step towards breaking through your current career glass ceiling. This new distance learning programme is designed to fit around your current work commitments and reflects the recent changes in the profession and the new 'Body of Professional Knowledge' introduced by CILIP.
So why choose us? Well, we have a strong and successful reputation in the delivery of Distance Learning Courses and we have an established infrastructure to support you and make sure you succeed. The academic staff have considerable experience of distance learning delivery and know what works and what doesn't. Our Library and Learning Services offer services specifically designed to meet your needs as a distance learner and our Information System [NORA] was recently awarded top honours in the WebFeat Presidents award. The awards ceremony recognized seven leading libraries for innovation in their information systems and Northumbria University received top honours in the academic library category and was the only award to a library outside the USA! You can therefore be sure that we know what we're doing and will give you the very best education we can.
