Building Surveying is concerned with buildings in use, including the maintenance, alteration, repair, refurbishment and restoration of existing buildings as well as working with new buildings.
This challenging degree develops analytical problem-solving and communication skills as well as the technical understanding and professional approach required for building surveying. The programme provides the starting point to a career as a chartered surveyor.
Fieldwork is an integral part of the degree programme and the programme involves local, real life project work as well as annual residential study visits.
LEARNING AND TEACHING METHODS
Assessment is via a combination of coursework, project work, group work and presentations and formal examination.
ACCREDITATION
This programme meets the full academic requirements for student membership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), meaning that our graduates are well on their way to full membership status, which is achieved once they successfully completed their Assessment of Professional Competence.
CAREERS
The degree provides students with a broad vocationally-based building surveying education to equip them for a professional career in commerce, industry, private or public service and construction and development.
