3 years full-time or 4 years sandwich
Business and LawLaw and NBS Building, City Campus East
This programme provides you with an opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of the full range of business and management disciplines in preparation for a career in management with multinational enterprises.
The first two years provide exposure to the main functional areas of business and related subjects. In the final year you can opt to broaden and deepen your understanding in one of those functional areas.
The programme is about developing both a theoretical knowledge of business management issues and the relevant skills. As a result there is a strong vocational emphasis with a focus on the application of knowledge in practical situations. This will enable you to develop a variety of skills in analysis, synthesis and decision-making – all of which are essential to a career in management.
There is the opportunity to undertake a year-long placement at the end of Year 2. Students get full support from the Placements Office to obtain a placement to prepare them for final year studies and future employment.
LEARNING AND TEACHING METHODS
The programme is delivered through a combination of lectures and seminars alongside sessions from visiting speakers and independent learning.
Students choosing to take an industrial placement year will also be able to develop themselves as reflective continuous learners in a work environment.
Students who select an overseas study placement will be able to experience learning environments abroad, where the learning and teaching methods applied will depend upon the educational background and philosophy of the overseas institution.
ASSESSMENT METHODS
You will be assessed in a variety of ways including coursework, written exams and practical exercises. Many assessments are based on real-life case studies and business scenarios and are an authentic and relevant representation of how businesses work.
