The BA Marketing Management is a vocational degree that equips you with the in-depth understanding, skills and experience you need to enter this rewarding business discipline in a management role. The programme also offers you the flexibility of taking a one- year work-based marketing placement in industry. This is an outstanding opportunity for you to experience the real business world and put into practice what you have learned on the programme, whether you choose to work for a large multinational or a Small Medium Enterprise (SME).


Placement
During the third year students undertake a placement in industry. Placements could be in a range of organisations from large multinationals. You will get full support from the Placement Office to obtain a meaningful placement which will prepare you for your final year studies and further employment.


LEARNING AND TEACHING METHODS

The programme will be delivered using a combination of lectures, seminars, computer-based workshops, visiting speakers, open learning materials, directed and independent learning to ensure a deep and broad knowledge of the subject.


ASSESSMENT METHODS

You’ll be assessed in a variety of ways including the production of business reports, presentations, portfolios and examinations. You may also use computerised business simulations as a basis for some assessments.  Many assessments are based on real-life case studies and business scenarios ensuring they are an authentic and relevant representation of how businesses work. You will undertake a major in-depth study on a relevant topic of your choice in your final year.


ACCREDITATION

The programme is recognised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing and allows students entry to the Chartered Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing.

 


CAREERS

Graduates are prepared for junior management positions in a marketing role, such as brand or account managers and market researchers. Recent graduates are working at organisations including Vauxhall, Panasonic and ITV.

CITY AND GUILDS
Successful completion of the placement year allows the University to award the Licentiateship of City and Guilds (LCGI), a national qualification recognised by a number of employers.
