This course has been specifically designed to develop the skills and professionalism desired by industry, producing graduates ready for senior level careers in IT. The curriculum was created in partnership with the Government’s e-skills UK unit and endorsed by leading employers. It is available uniquely at this site in northern England.

This course, which is committed to being at the cutting-edge of new media development, offers an opportunity to study the latest computer-based design working with a mix of graphic and electronic media to produce innovative concepts. Projects include designing for the web, interactive television and authoring for CD ROM/DVD production as well as studying traditional design, including typography, corporate identity and paper-based publishing.

This degree in Interior Architecture focuses on the remodelling and reuse of existing buildings for continued or reinterpreted use. This studio-based, design-led programme will cover the theory and practice associated with working with an existing built context. It will also cover how spatial development, materiality, technology and environmental control can improve the character and performance of existing built spaces. Design projects will provide a mechanism for ideas exploration which will increase in complexity, authority and autonomy through each level of study, starting with smaller manageable contexts and moving into more complex and realistic scenarios towards the final year.

Interior Design is the creative response to interior architectural space, existing or new build, that considers function and use, material, space and form. This course has an emphasis on creativity and most learning takes place in design studios where design projects investigate the key aspects of interior design ie. re-use and remodelling, lighting and experience. With an emphasis upon individuality, the development of student creativity and independent thinking, risk taking is encouraged. The outcome, will be a graduate who has an awareness of the design industry as a whole and is able to define their own place within it.

This course allows students to learn about business in an international context, including the significant (1/3 of programme) study of a European language (French or Spanish). Students spend the third year abroad – either studying in a university or working for a company in a host country where their language is spoken. For the ‘with French’ programme students must have an A2/AS level French, for the ‘with Spanish’ students must posses a GCSE (grade c or above) in any language.

This course allows students to learn about business in an international context, including the significant (1/3 of programme) study of a European language (French or Spanish). Students spend the third year abroad – either studying in a university or working for a company in a host country where their language is spoken. For the ‘with French’ programme students must have an A2/AS level French, for the ‘with Spanish’ students must posses a GCSE (grade c or above) in any language.

This highly flexible course allows students to learn about business in an international context with a range of choices including the option to learn a language without previous language qualifications. Students spend the third year abroad in either Asia, America or Europe - either studying in a university in the host country or working for a company. Students who do not normally reside in the UK may omit the year abroad from the programme and complete the degree in three years. This course commences in September except for direct entrants to the final year who have the option to start in January.

This programme is about helping to develop the managers who will run the hotels, the airlines, the tour operators, and so on that will enable tourism to flourish. The emphasis of the programme is on management within the context of the tourist industries and this draws on expertise from across NBS as well as academics from the tourism specialism. The emphasis of the MA International Tourism Management is on the tourist/the activity of tourism.
