Full-time Undergraduate Fees

The following information relates to the 2012/13 academic year only.

Northumbria's tuition fee for most full-time undergraduate courses commencing in the 2012/13 academic year is £8,500 per year. This figure may rise annually in line with inflation. To help you manage your finances, there is a range of support packages available in the form of bursaries and scholarships.

If you are studying on a course that carries a tuition fee and you take a sandwich/placement year you will only pay 25% of the full fee during your placement year.

 Healthcare Professions

If you are studying on a course in one of the following areas you will not need to pay a tuition fee:

  • Nursing
  • Midwifery
  • Operating Department Practice
  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational Therapy

This is because such courses receive funding from the National Health Service Executive (NHSE). UK and EU students are also eligible to apply for a means-tested bursary.

Further information about the financial support available for you if you begin an NHS-funded health professional course can be found on the NHS Student Grants Unit website at www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/students where you will also find a copy of their booklet 'NHS Bursary Information'. They can also be contacted by telephone on 0845 358 6655.

Additional Costs

Some undergraduate courses carry additional costs to cover items such as field trips and equipment. Northumbria University is committed to absorbing as many of these additional costs as possible; however if there are additional costs which you will incur the University will inform you before you enrol.

This does not include additional costs which you may incur during your normal studies, for example books and writing materials.
