Fees and Discounts for Overseas Students
The following terms apply to new full-time students with overseas fees status who are commencing a programme in the 2012/13 academic year. There are a number of benefits of studying at Northumbria which give you great value for money.- Our Undergraduate fees stay the same for the duration of your course
- We reward your loyalty, so if you have previously completed an academic programme with Northumbria you will qualify for a 10% discount on one year's Postgraduate tuition fees from 2012/13. (There are some exceptions for Professional Law Courses)
- We offer early payment discounts of between £500 and £260 if you pay your full fees early (These apply to both new and continuing students, provided payment is received before the deadline)

Alumni Discount
We want to reward your loyalty if you to come back to study with us. Our Alumni discount means that if you have successfully completed a Northumbria Bachelors or Postgraduate Masters programme, through any mode of study (full/part-time, distance learning, in the UK or on a franchised or validated programme overseas) you will qualify for a 10% discount on one year's tuition fees in 2012/13 if you are starting a full-time taught postgraduate or postgraduate research programme at Northumbria. There are some exceptions for Professional Law Courses. This discount should be deducted from the course fee and applied before any other discounts (such as early payment discounts mentioned below). Please provide details of your previous course when applying and if possible quote your previous student number. You will qualify for the alumni discount regardless of when you finished your previous programme.
Discounts for Early Payment
For the 2012/13 academic year, the University is offering new and continuing overseas students a discount where the full year’s overseas tuition fee for a degree programme is received by the University’s Finance Department before the dates below.
You will qualify for an early payment discount if you pay your full tuition fee for the academic year in advance and meet all of the following conditions:
- You have already received an offer prior to payment
- The tuition fee in your offer letter is more than £6,000
- You are a self-funding student starting an academic degree or diploma programme in 2012/13 which lasts at least one full academic year.
If you meet these conditions please remember to deduct the relevant discount when you pay your fees. The amount of discount varies from £500 to £260 depending on when your full fees are received by the University's Finance Department, as shown below:

Students starting their academic programme in September 2012:
- £500 reduction in fees for students starting in September 2012 whose full fees are received on or before 1 June 2012
- £260 reduction in fees for students starting in September 2012 whose full fees are received on or before 1 August 2012
- £500 reduction in fees for students starting in January 2013 whose full fees are received on or before 1 October 2012
- £260 reduction in fees for students starting in January 2013 whose full fees are received on or before 1 December 2012
To ensure you receive the discount please allow enough time for funds to reach the UK and clear. As the discount is applied when the funds are processed in the UK we recommend you allow at least 12 days before the dates above if you are paying via one of Northumbria’s Regional Offices
