International Office

The International Office plays a developmental, strategic and co-ordinating role in the University's international work, seeking to provide quality support both internally and externally.

The International Office maintains and develops links with the University's international partners and provides services which include:

Partnerships
• Briefing on actual and potential overseas partners
• Providing initial assessments of potential overseas partners.

Student recruitment
• Providing expert guidance on overseas qualifications
• Spearheading increased recruitment of overseas students through market identification, development and implementation of marketing strategies
• Providing a customer care service to prospective international students.

Representatives Network
• Recruitment representatives and developing a support programme for them.

Training and Consultancy
• Developing and marketing Northumbria short courses
• Identifying and securing overseas training and consultancy opportunities.

Staff development
• Assisting with staff development relating to overseas work.

 

Regional Offices 

The University has welcomed students from overseas for many years and have dedicated Northumbria University offices in China, Malaysia, Thailand and India. The role of the Regional Offices are predominantly;

• Counselling for individuals or groups on academic issues, as well as information on life in Newcastle, accommodation, cost of living etc.
• Resources and information on programmes offered by Northumbria University
• Help with the application process
• Advice and support for institutions interested in partnerships and collaboration
• School and College Liaison
• Pre-departure briefings for students travelling to Newcastle
• Support for students on distance learning programmes
• To provide a base for University staff who often make visits from Newcastle to attend recruitment events etc
