Parents' Information

photo: parents montage
At Northumbria University we are committed to providing the best possible support for all of our students. We also recognise the vital role you play in advising, reassuring and supporting your son or daughter during their time preparing for and then experiencing university life. To help you do this we have prepared a range of information, available both in print and online, which is designed to answer any questions you or your son/daughter may have.  Look out for the 'Top Tips' - genuine advice from other parents and students.

(Please note: while we will do everything we can to answer any question you may have, under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998 we are unable to discuss any specific or personal details relating to your son/daughter's application, course or university experience.)

Money Matters

Our experience with parents of potential students, backed up by local and national research, indicates that the biggest concern when it comes to their sons and daughters applying to university is the cost.

Accommodation

After your son or daughter has chosen which course they want to study, and then which University they want to go to, the next important choice to consider is where to live.

Application Process

The choice of university is an important one and we view selection as a two way process. You select your university as much as the university selects you!

Starting at University

For many students, coming to the University is their first real taste of living independently.

Safe and Sound

For most parents the thought of a son or daughter leaving home is a daunting prospect. We understand that safety is a big concern.
