Students into Schools

Students Into Schools gives you the opportunity to gain academic credit and develop your employability skills whilst on placement.

At Northumbria your education is about more than a qualification. We aim to offer a wide range of experiences and a chance to get involved in areas you might not have otherwise considered.

We want you to have a great time as well as preparing you for the workplace. This is why we aim to offer you more. There are a host of opportunities available to you throughout your time at Northumbria which range from: tutoring for academic credit; paid work; volunteering; help with starting your own business. The choices are varied and there is something to suit all interests.

There are no weekly lectures for the module, however there will be training sessions and tutorials at the beginning, middle and end of the semester to develop your skills.  The rest of your time will be spent at your placement.

The year long module allows you the opportunity to spread out your placement, therefore enabling you to manage your time.  You can chose to undertake either a half or full day each week, stretched over all or part of the academic year.

Alongside the year long module, we also offer some semester based modules.

If you are undertaking student tutoring you must apply for a CRB enhanced disclosure.
