The 25-year-old won the Business and Enterprise category at the Young Achiever 2009 awards.

Newcastle Business School in conjunction with the Evening Chronicle took part in the awards aimed at 16-25 year olds which celebrates the success and praises the determination of young people within the North East region.

Sean Gerrie, Dylan McKee and Lauren Skerritt were picked as the finalists for the Business and Enterprise award from a number of high calibre entries, with the winner of the category being Sean.

Sean, who graduated with a first class BSc (Hons) Internet Computing degree from Northumbria University three years ago, has worked in both retail and IT. From his experiences in these sectors he soon realised he possessed the skills and ingenuity to set up his own business, less than two years after graduating.

In 2008, Sean set up Seeded SEO, which provides its clients with internet marketing services, with the main service being SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).

He uses his skills in internet marketing to make sure his clients increase their online presence, with the potential of eventually reaching the top of search engine results.

Sean said: "I was humbly honoured to win the Evening Chronicle's Young Achievers Business and Enterprise Achievement award. Seeded SEO, my Internet Marketing business providing Search Engine Optimisation  (SEO) stems from my valued journey and achievement at Northumbria University.

"Entrepreneurship has always been in my nature, I love the creativity and technical challenges that Internet Marketing provides so it's a natural business quest for me, and I'm growing organically.

"The continued support from Northumbria University throughout, including the Graduate Enterprise department, has helped me achieve great heights both as a student and a graduate."

So far, Seeded SEO has served a vast variety of clients, including holiday companies, cleaning agencies and a training provider.

Sean was nominated to receive the award by a friend who described him as "extremely supportive", "exceptionally professional" and a "workaholic".
