Visualising the artists of the future
Original artworks created by upcoming artists and photographers will be auctioned to the public at Northumbria University this month.![]() |
Final year students from the BA (Hons) Fine Art and Contemporary Photographic Practice Programmes will hold their annual auction on Wednesday 17 February, at Domain, Student Union Building.
The auction is an important event in the School of Art and Social Sciences’ calendar. Work by final year students, staff and invited artists that will be going under the hammer will include drawings, paintings, photographs, prints and sculpture. All proceeds from the sales will go towards the 2010 undergraduate degree shows in June.
The auction is open to all, giving members of the public a fantastic opportunity to purchase a unique art work before these student artists are discovered by the outside world. Many of Northumbria’s graduating students have gone on to establish themselves professionally in the region, as well as nationally and internationally.
Art work can be previewed in Gallery North Project Space, Ground Floor, Squires Annexe, City Campus. A preview evening, which takes place on Tuesday 9 February, 5pm – 7.30pm, will launch the public exhibition of the work. The exhibition runs from 10 – 16 February. Doors are open between 10am and 7pm, Monday to Thursday, and 10am to 6pm on Friday 12.
Bidding on the auction night will commence promptly at 6.30pm on 17 February. Please note it is not possible to take card payments.
