Segedunum
The Roman occupation of the North of England has left many sites of historical interest. Segedunum Fort, on the banks of the river at Wallsend is the eastern gateway to the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall which stretches from Wallsend in the east to Bowness on the north west coast. Today Segedunum is the site of a museum containing a reconstruction of a Roman Bath House, interactive exhibits and on-going excavations.
Location
The Fort is a minute's walk away from Wallsend Metro and Bus Station.From Newcastle take the Metro from Monument or St. James' Park to the coast via Wallsend.
