Following your feedback your learning spaces at City Campus Library are getting another upgrade.
Every year we listen to your feedback and wherever possible make changes in response to what you tell us is working well and what isn’t. Most recently we refurbished Coach Lane Campus Library in 2011 and opened the first floor extension to City Campus Library in 2012. Last summer we upgraded Floors 1-6 of City Campus Library providing you with more of the library spaces you told us you needed for your learning. After the upgrade City Campus Library provided you with:
822 study spaces on floors 1-6 including;
551 IT enabled desks
24 reading chairs
8 collaborative tables
4 dedicated silent study areas
Task lighting and desk screens
This summer we’re turning our attention to City Campus Library Basement where we are adding around 100 new study spaces…

20th May 2015: What you told us about the Basement
Each year the University Library gets thousands of comments from students across Northumbria, some arrive via Your Library Your Say, other by social media, and many from our annual Library survey as well as the University Survey and the National Student Survey (NSS). We read every one of these comments and we know that, for many of you, the Basement is one of your favourite places.
We also know however that you want more of the “right kind” of space...
The 2015 basement transformation project will enhance the social, collaborative, and group learning space at City Campus Library. Starting in August and completing for the return of students in late September. You can follow our progress on this blog.
