Welcome to The Graduate School
Northumbria University has an excellent record in postgraduate research across a wide range of academic disciplines. Northumbria University made submissions in 12 units of assessment in the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008. Research was judged to be ‘world-leading’, rated 4*, in nine out of twelve of the subject areas in which the University submitted. The Graduate School administers research studentships, including Northumbria’s three year studentship scheme for full-time PhDs. A key responsibility of the School is the arrangement of research degree examinations and awards.
A lot of the work of The Graduate School is done via a comprehensive network of committees including the Graduate School Committee (Chair, Professor John R Dean), Professional Doctorate Standing Group (Chair, Professor Sharon Mavin), Graduate School Committee Examination Panel (Chair, Professor John R Dean), PGR Training Group (Chair, Professor John R Dean) and the PGR Contact Group (Chair, Hilary Dixon).
Graduate School opening hours are Mon - Thurs 08.30 - 17.00, Fri 08.30 - 16.30, Sat - Sun closed.
