Ethics and Governance

Welcome to Northumbria University's Research and Ethics webpages. The pages, the companion Ethics and Governance Handbook (pdf), and the new Online Research Ethics Approval Form, have been developed to ensure that there is a University-wide repository of information about the Northumbria's policies, practices and guidance.

They are intended to be a guide to staff and students and to promote best practice for the ethical conduct of research. 

The University also provides training courses in Research Ethics as part of its Academic Development training programme. All staff who lead, undertake or supervise research (including those who supervise student research projects, or carry out internal surveys) must attend a course.
