Assessment and Enhancement Week

Break from teaching to undertake enhancement activities

Assessment and Enhancement Week
Assessment and Enhancement Week

A whole range of exciting Assessment and Enhancement activities and challenges took place across the School during the week commencing 9th to 13th November.  In the Mechanical Engineering and Design subject area, the programme of events included a Design Day School where second year students undertook a pasta building ‘Design, Make, Smash and Grab’ challenge, a competition to see which team of first year students could come up with, and then present their argument for the Best Engineering or Design Idol.  There were also presentations throughout the week by final year project students.  Arguably though, the highlight of the week for many were the industrial visits that students undertook to 16 different companies including, Komatsu, Engineering Business, Bay Plastics, Glaxo Smith Kline, EWM High Tech Welding, Express Engineering, Shasun Pharma Solutions and Air Filters.

The Assessment and Enhancement week, which was a great success, was an attempt to take a pause before the start of teaching of new material so that students could consolidate their learning and also an opportunity to engage in some enhancement activities related to learning and teaching.
