Dr David Gao

Senior Lecturer

Dr. Gao joined the School  in September 2011 as a Senior Lecturer in Power Engineering. 

In 2004, he was awarded the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship. He has been the senior member of IEEE since 2009. He is currently the Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, and the Guest Editor for IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics.

Dr. Gao’s research interests are focused on Data-Driven Modelling, Mathematical Modelling, Condition Monitoring, Fault-tolerant Design, Advanced Control, and Intelligent Optimisation and their applications in electro-mechanical systems, power and sustainable energy systems and biomedical systems. He is a member of the Energy Systems and Advanced Materials Research Group
