Both my undergraduate degree and doctorate are in mathematics. I realised that I liked both mathematics and computing but gradually I found I was teaching more computing so ended up in that subject area. I joined this university back in 1973 after a period as a Demonstrator in the Computing Laboratory at Newcastle University and have had many roles in that time. I’ve engaged in lots of consultancy and research over the years but my current role as Head of Overseas Recruitment means that I have little time for anything else.

I relax by swimming and taking my dog for long walks and am interested in sport generally.
