I did my first degree at Sheffield City Polytechnic and my post-graduate study at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU). I also did some industry-based research at SHU before coming to Northumbria in 1994 to join the School of Engineering. My PhD was in glass manufacture but I also research other related aspects of heat transfer, fluid flow and forming processes. I also spend time researching engineering education and do a bit of consulting in areas generally related to manufacturing processes or product failure.
