Susannah Riney

Student Wellbeing Coordinator

I joined Northumbria University in 2001 initially working within student placements and some part-time lecturing on professional development modules.  I then became involved with student retention within the school, looking into the reasons why some students persevere and succeed and why others struggle and offering support and guidance to those students.

My current role as Student Wellbeing Coordinator allows me to build on the student retention role to work on enhancing the student experience within the school.  I feel it’s important that students are able to make the most of their time here and overcome any obstacles which may get in the way of this in order that they can take as much as they can from their experience here.  I teach in areas of professionalism, ethics and professional development.

Away from the university I have two small children so free time is a luxury I used to have.  However I do enjoy reading, cooking and getting out and about to explore.  I  also trying to get out on my bike  whenever possible.
