Projects and Labs

This is a teaching and research laboratory which include modern equipment (10 sets from Feedback) that allows computer controlled tests and measurements to be conducted.
Funding has been approved to upgrade this laboratory to include new and renewable energy equipment. The new laboratory will have four electrical generators at domestic scale (2 wind, 1 PV and 1 CHP) together with appropriate power conditioning, measurement and analysis equipment. An “Intelligent Power Analysis System” will also be developed. The new laboratory will provide real data, test facilities and a platform for teaching and research in the area of new and renewable energy.
Modern equipment includes:
- Two DSPACE DS1103 PPC Controlled 400 MHz boards
- Dranetz PP4300 Power Platform Quality Demand Analyser
- ELG SW5250A, 5kVA Smartwave Series Programmable Power Supply
- Agilent Infiniium 4-channel, 500 MHz 2GSa/s digital oscilloscope
- Tektronix TDS3034, 4-channel, 300 MHz 2.5GSa/s digital oscilloscope
- Six Agilent mixed signal (2-Analogue, 16-Digital), 100 MHz, 200 MSa/s oscilloscopes
- Several isolated, high-frequency voltage and current transducers
- ERACS specialist software for computer aided power systems design and analysis
- MATLAB Simulink Power System ToolBox
