Information Management Innovation Research Group

The Information Management Innovation (IMI) Research Group aims to conduct
high impact research to develop and transform theory into relevant policy
and practice for use by the Information Management, Systems and Technology
Professions.
Group members have won significant research grants from funding councils such as AHRC, EPSRC, the JISC and Eduserv. Over £400K of research funding is ongoing from 2007/2009 including major projects investigating people, process and technology factors concerned with the adoption of electronic records management and modelling organisational process workflows.
Research is translated rapidly into practice as demonstrated by Collaborative Innovation Partnerships with companies such as Frank Haslam Milan Ltd.
The group is active in information strategy and management consultancy with past and current clients including: Vickers (BAe Systems) Ltd, Grainger Properties PLC, North Star Housing Group, Koru Property Services Ltd and Knowledge House (North East Universities Consortium Unis4NE). Enterprise (professional development) activities have been conducted with the European Central Bank (Frankfurt), the BBC (London), universities in Eire and also The National Archives.
The IMI group aims to develop relevant and high impact research organised into four distinct streams:
- Information Strategy Alignment: Developing methods for the alignment of information, systems, technology management and organisational strategies.
- Electronic Records Management: Accelerating positive changes in work practices (people, process and technology) in the field of electronic records and information management.
- Collaborative Workflow Modelling: Developing innovative approaches to prototyping and business process modelling to drive organisational change and develop new forms of collaborative knowledge working.

information seeking and how different age groups interact with web
based information and library resources.
