Successful Bid to hold major international Conference in July 2010

The School has been successful in it’s bid to host the 28th International Colloquium on Group Theoretical Methods in Physics in July 2010.  This major conference series began in 1972 and is returning to the UK after a gap of 28 years.  In 2002 the Conference was held in Paris, in 2006 New York, and 2008 will be in Armenia.

The Conference will run from 26th – 30th July 2010 at Northumbria University.  The two organisers are Professor M Angelova of Northumbria University and Professor W Zakrzewski of Durham University.   Two hundred and fifty participants are expected during the week of the conference, including some internationally renowned scientists.

This is a significant recognition of Northumbria University for its reputation in the field by the international community.
