CEIS Research Facilities
The Schools have extensive and excellent facilities for research and student projects. Each research group has its own laboratory with all the necessary equipments for electrical and electronics, mechanical engineering, computer, mathematics and information science research.
Energy Systems and Advanced Materials
- Northumberland Building PV Facade:
40 kW façade with associated monitoring equipment is used for ongoing “building integrated photovoltaic” studies. - Photovoltaic Cell Test Facility:
Class A terrestrial solar simulator and a close matched simulator (for multi-junction studies). There are only 2 facilities of this type in the UK. - Nordiko RF Magnetron Sputtering Facility:
Large area ( > 400 cm2) deposition of up to 3 materials sequentially. This can be used to produce photovoltaic solar cell mini-modules. - Kurt J Lesker Deposition System:
Sequentially and co-depositing up to 4 materials using sputtering (RF/DC), thermal evaporation and/or electron evaporation without breaking vacuum. - Thermal Evaporation Systems
