International Commercial Law (Distance Learning)

The International Commercial Law programme offers students the opportunity to explore a variety of commercial law subjects in an international context.

Students on the programme gain specialist legal knowledge within a practical context, whilst developing expertise in chosen areas and enhancing research skills. The programme will be of interest to legal practitioners and to those in business who encounter various aspects of International Commercial Law.

Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, LLM

The Linked Award structure of our Distance Learning programmes gives students flexibility in their studies. Students enrol on and complete each stage of the programme, before choosing to move onto the next stage or exiting with the relevant award. The stages are Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma and LLM.

Teaching and Learning

The programme builds upon participants’ experience - whether gained through undergraduate study, employment or legal practice - and in addition to developing existing expertise and knowledge, the programme offers a range of practical benefits including:
- Greater awareness of legal commercial issues in an international context
- The ability to apply specialist legal knowledge to practical problems
- The acquisition of expertise in new specialist areas
- The ability to critically evaluate legal issues
- Enhanced research and presentation skills

Each module is taught from a practical viewpoint, enabling students to both understand and apply the relevant law. Click here for more information about the programme structure.

Throughout the programme, modules are taught by specialist staff with a wide range of international backgrounds. Click here for more details about the staff involved in the programme.

Flexible Delivery

This programme commences in September each year and is taught on a distance learning basis. It takes 2.5 - 3 years to complete, depending on the route chosen and the availability of advanced standing. Students are guided through each module by comprehensive study materials written by expert practitioners in each field.

Optional Saturday study days are available which allow participants to deepen their understanding of the critical issues in each module and to share their own experiences with each other. The study days comprise of lectures, seminars and workshops, allowing for plenty of interaction with module tutors.
