BBC Prize

The School of Law is pleased to announce that the BBC have kindly agreed to award a prize to a LLB (Hons) Law with Environment student.

The prize will be given to a year 2 continuing student who gains the highest mark in the oral assessment in the Pollution Control Law module. The winning student will be given the opportunity to shadow the Environmental Correspondent on the regional BBC news programme ‘Look North’, a rare opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the environmental media.

The School of Law will notify the BBC of the student nominated for this prize and the student will be able to organise a date that is mutually acceptable to both. The oral assessment is an innovative method of examination which requires students to identify a contemporary environmental issue and prepare a short presentation for broadcasting on a radio show and in a pod cast.

The LLB (Hons) Law with Environment programme is the first programme of its kind in the country to provide an integrated environmental qualifying law degree.

Commencing in September of each year, the programme, offered in conjunction with Northumbria's School of Built and Natural Environment, will be of interest not only to those wishing to become legal professionals but also to anyone with an interest in working in the environmental sector.
