Law students compete in Delhi

Law students Matthew Crowe, Daniel Manton and Laura Nagel represented the School of Law in the KK Luthra Memorial Moot Competition at Delhi University recently.

The competition moot problem was on a manslaughter case against a (fictitious) state government.

The competition required students to prepare and submit written memorials in advance, then present oral submissions based on these at the venue itself.

This was the first time Northumbria entered a team in this event, which has been very helpfully facilitated by Russell Hewitson, Director of International Development and Dr Gitanjali Gill, Senior Lecturer.

The team were pitted against last year's winners, George Washington Law School, in the preliminary rounds and managed to beat them. They went on to be placed 9th out of 84 teams.

When speaking of the experience, Matthew Crowe said "I know I speak for Laura, Dan and I when I say that the experience was amazing. Not only were we successful in our mooting campaign, but we made many a new friend, and enjoyed many a new experience."
