Global addresses

Professor Paul Maharg has been invited to participate in three international events this spring.

Prof Paul Maharg

He will be giving the keynote address at the Third Conference on Law, Education and ICT at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Open University), Barcelona, in early June. He will be analyzing curriculum issues that arise when simulation is used in online legal educational programme, and presenting this in the context of other global educational initiatives.

He has also been asked to speak on a panel at the US National Council of Bar Examiners Conference Annual Bar Admissions Conference, held this year in June in Savannah, Georgia.  Also on the panel are Professor Laurel S. Terry of Penn State’s Dickinson School of Law, and Alan Treleaven, who is Director of Education and Practice, Law Society of British Columbia, Canada. They will be discussing the subject of ‘Globalization Comes to the Main St, USA’.

Finally, in May Paul will be spending time as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law, where he will be giving lectures and workshops on legal education. This visit is part of a two-way exchange organized and funded by HKU.  Last year Professor Wilson Chow of HKU visited Northumbria amongst a number of locations throughout Wales, England and Scotland, studying the use of SIMPLE (SIMulated Professional Learning Environment).
