Northumbria Law School and Newcastle Business School join forces to offer new MSc programme
Northumbria Law School and Newcastle Business School have jointly developed an exciting new postgraduate course to meet the needs of recent Law graduates who want to add a business dimension to their undergraduate specialism. The MSc Business with Legal Management programme seeks to boost employability in the legal sector by providing the business dimension that law firms and legal departments are seeking in their staff, together with an understanding of management issues specifically affecting such legal organisations. It also offers flexibility as the business and management specialism the programme provides is attractive to non-legal employers.
Commencing in September 2010, this one-year, full time course has been developed in consultation with senior lawyers in practice and will provide law graduates with both a general postgraduate business education and an opportunity to semi-specialise in relation to management in the context of a law firm or legal department.
What makes this programme unique is that there will be an opportunity for a suitably qualified student on the course to secure a training contract with Muckle LLP in Newcastle - an award-winning law firm, rated by the Legal 500 as a Regional Heavyweight. The successful student will do a pre-training contract at the firm from June 2011 while completing their MSc dissertation and will be involved in all aspects of the firm's business from marketing and business development to finance before commencing the training contract in September 2011.
