Enhance your Employability with an MSc in Business with Legal Management
Developed to meet the needs of recent law graduates and their potential employers.
Are you thinking about what to do once you graduate in the summer? If you are seeking employment in the legal sector then you should consider acquiring additional business skills to help set you apart from the large number of law graduates nationally looking for training contracts and other jobs in the legal services sector. Alternative Business Structures have now entered the legal services marketplace – Co-operative Legal Services is already a major player and the first UK law firm to become a plc is anticipated shortly. This is a period of large scale changes within the legal market which demand new skills from those seeking to enter it, and also provide great opportunities for you.
Employers of law graduates told us that they have a preference for graduates who are commercially aware and have a sound understanding of how a business operates, and of how the legal services provider itself operates. The MSc Business with Legal Management is a one year full time course and was created specifically in response to this employer feedback – to equip law graduates with key business skills, and a keen awareness of developments in the legal marketplace. It enhances your employability in the legal sector but also opens up new opportunities in the wider business world. The course is delivered jointly by the Law School and Newcastle Business School and much of the teaching is delivered by practising lawyers. Please click here for further information.
The MSc was recently featured in The Times, and highlighted a Case Study of a Northumbria graduate, Sarah Calvert, who succeeded in obtaining a training contract as a result of the MSc. Copies of the articles can be found to the right of this page.
If you would like to find out more about the course, or to talk to current or past students on it, please email Fiona Fletcher, Programme Leader, at fiona.fletcher@northumbria.ac.uk who would be very happy to talk to you about the course.
