Jade won the trip after achieving the ‘best assignment’ for the Marketing Communication module taught on the BA (Hons) Business with Marketing programme. The aim of the Field Trip was to allow the winner to see how the theory that had been taught on the module relates to real life cases. Jade Gillham commented:  “I found the insight into the advertising world very interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. It opened my eyes to various spectrums of job opportunities in the advertising sector. I was very delighted that Newcastle Business School offered me the opportunity to go down to London and get a more informed view on the operational side of current business.”

Senior Brand Manager at Heinz and Newcastle Business School alumnus, Ross Longton cooperated with the teaching team of the Marketing Communication module and helped to develop the assessment element based on a real life Heinz example. Ross worked on Aunt Bessie’s Midweek Mini Roasties and briefed students on the product context.
Dr. Elmira Djafarova, Senior Lecturer in Marketing Management who worked with Ross on this collaboration for the past 3 years, said: “It is invaluable that we are able to bring corporate world examples into the classroom. Company visits and presentations are inspirational and centre on practical details of business. Presenters also provide advice on graduate schemes and application processes, which is of great interest and use to students.”
