The School of Arts & Social Sciences is made up of an exciting mix of arts, humanities and social science disciplines. The School’s diverse and dynamic portfolio of subjects includes: Performing Arts; Journalism; Film and Media; English Literature; Linguistics; Creative Writing; History; Art History; Fine Art; Cultural Management; Criminology; Photography; Politics; Sociology; Modern Foreign Languages; and Public Policy. Subjects are organised in five Departments - Arts; Humanities; Media; Social Sciences and Northumbria Language Centre.
Outstanding research across the School’s Departments underpins the high quality of our teaching. Organised into departmental research groups and projects, interdisciplinary activity and collaboration between internal and external partners are integral to the School’s research agenda.
