Work Experience Placement
MA in Preventive ConservationStudents are required to undertake a work experiences placement during the second semester of the programme. The placement is organised by the student in consultation with the tutor and an appropriate Institution. This enables the student to select an institution that can support their own particular interests and learning needs i.e. they may choose an institution that that could support some research towards their dissertation, although it should be stressed that the placement is primarily for experience of working practise.
- During the placement the student is required to:
Develop a topic that they have negotiated and agreed with the host institution and their tutor - Maintain a weekly electronic journal in which they record their activities and details of materials and equipment that have been used during the work experience. The journal entries will be exchanged between students and the programme leader in order to ensure students are engaging in best practise
- Contribute to weekly Discussion Boards in which students discuss a pre-determined aspect of Preventive Conservation in order to share and exchange best practice i.e. emergency preparedness, housekeeping etc. The Discussion Boards will be exchanged between students and the programme leader will comment as appropriate.
