Northumbria Language Centre

We provide a friendly, supportive and truly international environment for undergraduate and pre-sessional students. We have a team of innovative, dedicated and highly experienced academic staff.

Northumbria Language Centre provides Spanish and French teaching on undergraduate degrees across the University and also offers modules where students can study Mandarin Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese and British Sign Language.

The Centre also offers pre-sessional programmes and in-sessional support, helping international and UK students develop their language ability and enabling them to study an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a British university.

English language programmes are offered throughout the year, including an English and study skills summer school, which attracts students from all over the globe.  All our English language programmes are accredited by the British Council.

The Northumbria Language Centre also delivers a portfolio of short courses to businesses and professionals.

The Centre is based in the School of Arts and Social Sciences, which has a strong reputation for quality teaching and research. Lecturers are fully committed to helping students achieve their full potential.
