MRes in Social Sciences
The Department of Social Sciences is delighted to invite applications for 5 MRes Studentships in 2010, as part of its annual Postgraduate Awards Scheme. Successful candidates will be awarded a full fee waiver (UK/EU students only), available from September 2010.MRes degrees are ideal preparation for students wishing to pursue doctoral studies, careers in professional research or teaching. The programmes are available for study over one-year full-time, with a part-time option. On completion students will be well prepared to commence work on a PhD and to finish this within three years. In some cases it may be possible to fast-track through a two year PhD programme which builds on the foundations provided by the MRes.

Candidates must have a minimum of a 2:1 honours degree in a relevant discipline. Applicants will also be required to submit a 500-word proposal followed by a formal interview. Students may apply to the programme up to and including 18 September but to be considered for the Studentships candidates must follow the procedure outlined below.
