New for 2012: MA in History

The School of Arts and Social sciences is pleased to announce the launch of our MA History programme which will run from September 2012.

This new, dynamic Masters programme has been carefully tailored to the interests of individual students and their favoured aspects of History. The programme will consist of four historical strands; American History, British History, European History and Early Modern History can be designed to reflect the individual interests through a wide range of option modules.

Students will experience a wide range of chronological, geographical, theoretical and historiographic expertise and they will find a challenging, yet flexible, schedule of study.  Independent research is encouraged and supervised by expert academics that closely assist students throughout their degree. Students will learn key skills, honing written and oral communication abilities while teaching them how to design, manage and complete projects as well as providing expert knowledge of research and the ability to use state of the art digital researching tools.

Employability after the programme is important to the School and the skills taught on the programme are highly desirable in today’s competitive job market and will equip students with knowledge and experience necessary for entry into a wide range of professions. The programme is also ideal preparation for students who are ambitious to progress to doctoral research.

The programme is offered part-time and can also be studied by distance learning through an innovative online learning environment where students can listen to podcasted lectures, interact with other Students in discussion forums, complete assessments, and have face-to-face meetings with their supervisor.
