Peel Magazine

Eyes peeled for new arts magazine.

null

A new arts magazine was recently launched at Northumbria University’s Gallery North.

Peel Visual Arts Magazine, which is aimed at artists and arts students, has been developed by Gallery North interns Louise Winter and Anna Jesson. Published by Gallery North Publications, Peel features information and critical reviews of exhibitions in the region, and also includes interviews with artists and an overview of artist-led initiatives in the North East.

The quarterly magazine aims to promote new art and critical dialogue. It will be a critical forum for contemporary artist debate, with activities at Gallery North serving as a catalyst for such discussions with an emphasis on emerging as well as more established artists.

Louise Winter commented: “We’re really excited about the opportunity to introduce a new critical publication extending the focus on education, enterprise, research and exhibitions instigated by Gallery North itself. We aim to provide a much needed platform for talented emerging artists from the region.”

Anna Jesson added: “We hope that peel will become the go-to publication for people, who want to be well informed about art in the region, and we think the variety and depth of the writing offers something new.”

Peel Visual Arts Magazine will be available to purchase from Gallery North, Northumbria University.
