Biography

Chemical engineer with 20 years expertise through a variety of senior research and technology management posts in a global chemicals and materials company. Leadership experience with track record from applied research to new products & processes in main applications areas of chemical & process engineering and in the fields of organic electronics, renewable energy & photovoltaics, micro & nano technologies and ‘smart’ ICT applications in healthcare and the creative industries sector.

Named as inventor on 28 patents, author of 2 books, another in preparation; co-author of seminal Royal Society Report on Nanotechnology; over 100 publications and presentations, including 90 invited keynote and plenary lectures.

Research Interests

A summary of the main elements or themes within my research

Current research focuses on human centred needs enhanced and enabled through Design:STEM integration activities. Expertise encompasses ‘active’ and interactive polymers, organic electronics & optoelectronics for applications in printable light, power, logic & memory and social innovation through healthcare, wellness, personal safety, security, assisted living and the development of smarter built environments.
