Dr. Veronika Kapsali

Veronika studied fashion and textile design at the London College of Fashion (1996-2000) then worked as a freelance designer, consultant and lecturer while conducting research into biomimetics and smart materials. In 2009 Veronika was awarded a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Bath University’s Centre for Biomimetic and Natural Technology and has since set up several research projects exploring the application of biological principles and mechanisms in the textile sector.

 

I am interested driving design innovation by exploring and interpreting hierarchy design in botanical structures to man-made products.

My research interests focus on innovation at the interface between the textile industry and biological related technology to develop need driven products for lifestyle enhancement. I am also interested in the impact of clothing functionality on wearer physiological experience and forecasting of future market requirements.
