MA Design Management

When the Assistant Managing Editor for Business Week declares ‘CEO’s should be designers’, it is clear that understanding design thinking will be an asset for you and your company. MA Design Management offers a unique insight into the value of creativity and design to organisations and how this can best be managed or used as a strategic tool. Also, offers an understanding of how design can contribute to leadership, sustainability and business or social innovation.

Campus based, this course is undertaken full time over a year. it consists if six modules that work concurrently to give you a holistic view of design strategies and ways to successfully manage the design process. As an MA Design Management student you will engage with industrial multidisciplinary projects based on real life situations, you will develop research and deliver a final dissertation. You will define and shape the subject of your dissertation, so you can adapt the course to suit your specific objectives - both professional and personal.

Your course in brief

This course has two intakes. Those enrolling in September will attend for one calendar year whilst January entrants will follow a 16 month programme including a break in the summer period. There are a total of 180 credits in this degree. 80 of these are theory based and cover essential elements such as:
Creative Thinking and Intellectual Property
Inter Cultural Communication
Research Principles
Reflective Practice
Contemporary Influences
Commercialisation (including brand/marketing communication and business planning)

These contextual modules provide the perfect foundation for the remainder of the degree which allows you to understand the field of Design Management, find your personal direction and provide a stepping stone to your future career. These modules include:
Design Value - Design Management
Global Strategies - Design Strategies
Final project i.e. written dissertation
