MA Design Professional Practice is an ideal course for experienced designers or design educators who want to develop their skills, knowledge and specialist experience while still in employment.
This is an extremely flexible option which allows individuals to tailor the course to suit their needs. So, students can use 'live' projects or issues within their work place as a start point for their MA and use this opportunity to reflect on current work practises with a view to improving or re-engineering them.
Designed to deliver an immediate positive impact on your daily working practices, this course means you can earn while you learn and at the same time advance your career prospects.
This online course, which can be undertaken full-time over a year or 16 months, or part-time over two years, consists of six modules that work concurrently to enrich your understanding and capabilities as a designer. Alongside these core modules you will develop, research and deliver a design project or portfolio of projects of your choice. In this way you can tailor your studies to your individual aspirations and ambitions and your work agenda.
Your course in brief
This course has three intakes. Those enrolling in September can study for one calendar year full time and two calendar years part time, while January entrants will follow a 16 month programme including a break in the summer period.
There are a total of 180 credits in this degree. 80 of these are theory based and cover essential elements such as:
Creative Thinking and Intellectual Property
Inter Cultural Communications
Research Principles
Reflective Practice
Contemporary Influences Commercialisation (including brand/marketing communications)
These contextual modules provide the perfect foundatin fr the remainder of your degree which can be tailored to your needs. This part of your degree will focus on a wrok-related project identified by you and will be completed in your workspace. This equates to 100 credits and includes:
Project Proposal
Project Research and Development
Final Project
