Jonathan Ive, Vice President for Design at Apple and Design for Industry Graduate receives Knighthood

Jonathan Ive, Northumbria Design for Industry Graduate, has been Knighted by the Princess Royal at Buckingham Palace for his services to Design and Enterprise. 

Jonathan Ive, Northumbria Design for Industry Graduate, has been Knighted by the Princess Royal at Buckingham Palace for his services to Design and Enterprise.

Sir Jonathan Ive is the Senior Vice-President of Industrial Design at Apple, reporting directly to the CEO. Since 1996 he has been responsible for leading a design team widely regarded as one of the world’s best.

Ive's Kighthood is one of many achievements throughout his career since graduating from Newcastle Polytechnic, now Northumbria University, and he was awarded an Honorary Degree in the year 2000. In 2003 he was named Designer of the Year by the Design Museum London and awarded the title Royal Designer for Industry by The Royal Society of Arts.

Speaking of Jonathan's Knighthood, Neil Smith - Enterprise Fellow at our School, said “He was a great talent and a lovely person who was very pleasant to teach. We are very proud of him and it is very well deserved."
