Environment and Energy

The Environment and Energy group is active in several areas of low carbon and renewable energy 'microgrids' for buildings including the modelling and interaction of micro-wind turbines and photovoltaic cladding systems, combined heat and power and geothermal heat pumps, and subway climatology.

Our research focuses on technological aspects as well as socio-economic aspects including investigations into barriers to the take-up of new technologies by users as well as strategies for training and user-harmonisation.

Environmental and Energy approaches to built and natural environment research include:

Building Integrated Low Carbon Energy Systems

Geothermal Energy

Subway Climatology
