Lyn Joined Sustainable Cities Research Institute in August 2000 having
completed BA in Sociology and History at Sunderland University, going on
to gain an MSc in Social Research Methods from Northumbria during her
first year working at SCRI.
Lyn has undertaken a variety of research projects involving community
organisations, participatory appraisal, financial inclusion and community
audits. General areas of research include social exclusion and various
aspects of community. Her research expertise ranges from statistical
analysis to participatory appraisal focussing mainly on community
engagement and evaluation of how this has been done.
At the beginning of 2007 Lyn took on the post of Project Coordinator for
Regeneration Exchange. Established in 1999, the mission of Regeneration
Exchange is to increase the capacity of regeneration partnerships and
practitioners through exchanging experiences and promoting good practice
across the north east and encourage a dynamic interchange process to
identify and investigate the elements crucial to the delivery of
regeneration relevant to partners and communities. As coordinator she
oversees projects, events and research undertaken by Regeneration exchange
and seek to develop the links and networks already established.
As part of her work with Regeneration Exchange, Lyn was chair of the
Regional Infrastructure Consortium (RIC) in it's first year (2008). The aim
of the RIC is to improve infrastructure services for frontline
organisations to ensure that all Third Sector groups throughout the region
are able to meet their own potential and to fully contribute to social,
environmental and economic development of the region. This project is
under the auspices of Capacity Builders.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lyn is a Research Associate at SCRI and Project co-ordinator for
Regeneration Exchange. She is currently invovled with the Regional Infrastructure Consortium and the North East Empowerment Partnership
(strategic group).
