Student Engagement
The Learning and Teaching Academy worked in active partnership with students and supports initiatives, activities and events which promote student engagement along a broad spectrum:
- Student LTA Consultative Group: the L&T Academy, in collaboration with the Students’ Union, operated a forum for consulting students from across the University on proposals for enhancing learning and teaching and to help provide support for the implementation of the University Learning, Teaching and Student Experience Plan. The 2009/10 Terms of Reference for the SU LTA Consultative Group are available in the right hand panel.
- Assessment for Learning is widely promoted as a way of engaging students in productive learning in everyday teaching situations and in learning experiences beyond the classroom. The CETL for Assessment for Learning team worked actively in three key areas: Student Learning Communities and Networks; Peer Learning; and, Student Voices.
- Annual International Student Conference: CETL AfL within the Learning and Teaching Academy ran an annual conference that focuses on international perspectives on higher education. The series focuses particularly on student engagement with internationalisation at university and aims to bring together students and staff in joint discussions on what an international education does and should consist of. Full details of the 3rd International Student Conference can be found here.
- Student Engagement – How does that work? was a recent event organised by the School of Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences with support from the Learning and Teaching Academy. The abstracts from the day are available here.
