EMERGE

Calling all EMERGE-ing Authors in Teaching, Learning and Assessment.

In 2009, Northumbria University launched  EMERGE, a, web-based, peer reviewed journal. EMERGE has been introduced to provide an internal and external platform for Scholarly publication.  The journal will be devoted to the dissemination of academic practice development and pedagogic enquiry and research which promotes, enhances and innovates all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment.

There are four alternative forms of submission open to academic staff and a further open category of submission for Students including those who may be collaboarting with staff in producing a submission.

  • Articles normally 4000-6000 word manuscripts (including references) in the form of empirical research papers, literature reviews, case studies, methodological case studies, action research or critical evaluations.
  • Research in Progress up to 2500 words (including references), which are shorter commentaries outlining scholarly activity in progress.
  • Open X Change are 1000-2000 words (including references)  accounts or reflective commentaries of teaching and learning developments.
  • Hot Topics are 500-1000 word debates about contemporary issues within education.
  • Student Voice up to 5000 words (including references), an open category but we recommend to be presented in one of the above formats.

The first issue of the journal is now published and we are now seeking contributions for Issue 2.

Issue 2, call for papers. Deadline: 30th November 2009

Detailed notes for authors in respect to formatting are available here.  Please note, that as the review process is anonymous, alongside your main contribution your are also asked to complete a Submission Form

Please send any submissions to the RG EMERGE email account. Any requests for general advice and/or comment on draft proposals can also be made via RG EMERGE or by ringing Joanne Smailes, Learning and Teaching Academy on 0191 243 7255.
