Assessment Documentation for Students

There has been an important change to the Assessment Regulations for Northumbria Awards (ARNA) for 2009/10. It affects new and returning students. A student must now complete every assessment component to be eligible to pass a module of study. A summary of responses to FAQs can be accessed below:

If you are absent for up to 10 working days during teaching, you are normally expected to make good this time through additional study unless it is close to the assessment submission or examination date.

If you are unable to submit assessed coursework by the given deadline because of serious and unpreventable personal circumstances, you can apply for more time to complete the work using the procedure for late approved submission.

You can submit a claim for personal extenuating circumstances if you feel that serious and unpreventable personal circumstances have significantly affected your assessed work. Claims will be considered by the Examination Board and should be submitted by published deadlines. If you have already been given an extended deadline for submission of coursework, a further claim will not be considered unless you can present a case for continuing effect.
