Quality and Standards Framework

Northumbria does not maintain a hard copy 'Quality Manual' because of the need to keep constituent documents regularly updated. Instead, the University's Quality and Standards Framework document provides a brief overview and indexes the main quality assurance and enhancement  documentation (for taught and postgraduate research awards) in its Appendix.

  • University Quality and Standards Framework (approved by Academic Board March 2009). Main topics covered are:
    • Management responsibilities for quality and standards - committee and executive structures
    • External reference points
    • University academic framework
    • Examination Boards and External Examiners
    • Programme Approval Processes
    • Programme Review
    • Collaborative Programmes
    • Student involvement in quality assurance
    • Enhancement of Learning, Teaching and Assessment
    • Review of the Framework
  • See also the University's Frameworks for taught programmes (including the Modular Framework for Northumbria Awards) . Other main themes may also be accessed by links in left panel
