Student Learning Values
The University has worked with the Students' Union to produce a set of Northumbria Student Learning Values 2011/12. They indicate the activities that University staff engage with to ensure a positive student experience and act as reminders to assist students (you) in making the best of the opportunities provided by the University. These have been recently amended to add clarity on assessment feedback.>
When originally compiled the statements were discussed widely across the University, with Schools, the HEFC Programme Staff and Postgraduate Research Representatives. A more detailed review of this document and its operation will be undertaken shortly.
Further comment on the use of the Learning Values by Postgraduate Research Students is provided in the file: PGR Interpretation of Northumbria Student Learning Values
Guidelines on Acceptable Conduct in Taught Classes and other Learning Environment
The large majority of Northumbria students wish to study in an environment conducive to learning. These guidelines were initiated by students and were drawn up in consultation with the Students' Union. Please observe them and note what you need to do if you feel that they are not being observed. See here.
Diploma Supplement
With effect from July 2007, the Diploma Supplement has been issued to all students completing Northumbria awards. The Supplement contains information on the nature, level, context, content and status of the studies that were successfully completed. The Higher Education Description for England, Wales and Northern Ireland was updated and issued by the Europe Unit in July 2009 in consultation with various national agencies (including HEFCE, QAA, UK NARIC) and provides a general summary of the HE system including information on its access requirements, types of institution and qualifications structures. It forms Section 8 of the Diploma Supplement and is intended to provide external parties with a general overview of the HE system in which a qualification is awarded.
